Heat exchange law in caloric regenerators

Heat exchange plays a major role in any kind of cooling devices, especially those based on caloric effects. Even though more than 50 prototypes this have been developed hitherto, the impact heat transfer coefficient their performance has not explicitly quantified. In work, we quantify regenerative by analyzing existing experimental data with theory. A linear trend is observed between regeneration factors and coefficients, slope 6 10−4 m2 KW−1. These findings suggest an empirical law, mostly independent prototype characteristics, should be used as guide to design efficiently future devices highly competitive temperature spans.
